A brand identity with its own mascot for De Nekker

De Nekker came to us with one specific request: update the signage across the site. During the collaboration, the recreation centre also decided to overhaul its brand identity as a whole. A targeted assignment thus grew into a broader visual redesign.

We designed a new logo and developed a brand identity for social media and the grounds, among other applications. The colours, visual language and pictograms also had to remain clear and effective on the signage.

Using the logo as a starting point, we also developed a mascot. The character was given different outfits and arm positions, allowing it to portray a wide range of actions. This keeps the same character recognisable while enabling it to adapt to different activities and messages from De Nekker.

The signage and pictograms help visitors find their way around the site. The mascot gives the communication a distinct face. Together, these elements show how a practical request grew into a brand identity with room for a wide range of applications.

About De Nekker

De Nekker is a recreation centre in Mechelen. Families, groups of friends and schools visit it for nature, water activities and relaxation.
